Summer Digital Art Class for 4th-6th Grade Students

Class Description:

This class is specially designed for younger students, entering 4th-6th grades. Explore many ways to create artwork using digital tools! Learn to use a digital tablet to draw and paint in the computer, learn to draw using vector based tools, create simple 2D animation, sculpt using virtual clay, and manipulate digital images. 

A STRONG interest in ART is a must. Curriculum is individualized to each student’s interests and abilities. Returning students welcome and encouraged. 

Digital Art Basics for Adults

Class Description:

In this class, explore many ways to create artwork using digital tools! Learn to use a digital tablet to draw and paint in the computer, learn to draw using vector based tools, create simple 2D animation, sculpt using virtual clay, and manipulate digital images.

This class is ideal for students who’ve taken classes with us before, and have a comfortable grasp on a variety of digital art tools. Returning students welcome. 

Beginning Digital Art

Class Description:

In this class, explore many ways to create artwork using digital tools! Learn to use a digital tablet to draw and paint in the computer, learn to draw using vector based tools, create simple 2D animation and manipulate digital images.

This class is ideal for students new to our classes, or who want to learn more of the basics. Returning students welcome. 

Graphic Design for your Small Business

Class Description:

Graphic design is important to your business, and if you’re running a small business, hiring a professional designer can be more than you can afford. This class is taught by a professional designer, and is intended to give you the basics of design including many tricks and tips to producing all of your marketing collateral.

Topics include: Determining your brand, logo development, business card design, letterhead and email signature, print ad design, and web graphics.  

WordPress Websites

Class Description:

In this class, learn how to build a custom blog and/or website using WordPress. Have you heard terms such as HTML and CSS? Want to know about nav bars and header graphics? That’s what this class is all about! Learn the secrets of how to create a great looking, easy to use website; make your own graphics to give your site a unique, artistic feel; learn all about plug-ins to add the cool features you want for your site.  

Who should take this class:

This class is for beginners, so everyone is welcome!

Graphic Design for Teens

Class Description:

Graphic Design is everywhere you look, from the websites you visit, to the interface on your smartphone, from YouTube intros to video game box art. Contrary to popular belief, creating eye-catching graphics isn’t just about having Photoshop. It takes artistic skills in color, typography, and composition. This class will help you turn your ideas into great looking web and print graphics, and before you know it, your friends will want to hire you to make their blog look cool too!

Special Class: Real-Time Interactive Media (RTIM)

Class Description:

This session’s RTIM class will be creating artwork and media themed around the winter season.

All the creative stages will be addressed; concept illustrations, designs, plans, actual imagery, signage, full scale visuals, music, sound effects and even some real 3D props and scenery. 

Who should take this class:

This is an advanced class for students who have completed our basic intro class and feel comfortable using multiple programs and want to learn how to use them together in new and creative ways.

Digital Painting & Illustration

Class Description:

Continue to develop techniques using the digital tablet to draw, paint and illustrate in the computer. Projects will explore different software applications and include both raster and vector drawing techniques. This class will emphasize both realistic and abstract styles, and is intended to help the student fully explore what is possible while encouraging further development of his/her own unique style.

Who should take this class:

This is a challenging class meant for students who already feel confident in their drawing and painting ability. Students who take this class should be comfortable using a drawing tablet, and have some experience using software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Fine Art with Photoshop

Class Description:

Learn how to utilize the diverse tools in Adobe Photoshop to combine photos, digital painting, text, shapes and more to create amazingly unique works of art. Throughout the class, we will provide professional tips and tricks to bring your artwork to the next level. Some experience with Photoshop recommended, but not required.

2D Motion Graphics/ Animation

Class Description:

This class will focus on taking 2D graphics and adding motion to them, to create exciting, dynamic designs or to tell simple narratives.  Students will learn how to break new or existing artwork into layers, how to develop the pacing and timing of their animated elements and how to add finishing touches such as special effects or post processes to give the animation the desired look and feel. This class will emphasize good composition, developing an eye for color relationships and good production habits.

Who should take this class:

Students who sign up for this class should be comfortable working with layers in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, and have a strong interest in creating art that moves.

3D Modeling & Animation

Class Description:

In this class we will learn the basics of 3D – everything from basic modeling skills and materials and textures, to lighting and rendering a final image. From there we will explore basic techniques of animation, how to create an entire scene with good composition and camera work and talk about post production special effects.

Who should take this class:

Students that sign up for this class should have an understanding about working in 3D space on the computer. This could include some experience with a 3D program such as Google Sketchup, Sculptris or Blender or even a 3D sandbox game such as Minecraft or Garry’s Mod.
